Vienna Woods

The Vienna Woods are the most favorite resort area of the Vienneses and a biosphere reserve.
This trip takes you via Baden – former imperial spa and work-place of Beethoven and Schubert – to Mayerling. There you will see the old hunting lodge of Crown Prince Rudolf Habsburg, the location of the “Tragedy of Mayerling”. The drive continues to the old Cistercian Abbey Heiligenkreuz from 1133, then to the Cave of Hinterbrühl, with the biggest subterranean lake of Europe and to the Castle of Liechtenstein.

I recommend a stop at a traditional wine tavern at Gumpoldskirchen to taste the local wines “Rotgipfler” and Zierfandler”.
An alternative program could be the visit of the stalactite cave in Alland and a hike.

For this excursion a vehicle is required, prices upon request.
