The Vienna Woods are the most favorite resort area of the Vienneses and history – charged.
This trip takes you via Baden – former imperial spa with roman thermea and work-place of Beethoven and Schubert – to St.Helen´s valley and to Mayerling. There you will get to know the old hunting lodge of Crown Prince Rudolf Habsburg, where occured the “Tragedy of Mayerling”. Further on to the Cistercian Abbey Heiligenkreuz from 1133, then to the Cave of Hinterbrühl, where you can visit the biggest subterranean lake of Europe and to the Castle of Liechtenstein.
If desired: visit of a traditional wine tavern at Gumpoldskirchen to taste the typical “Rotgipfler” and Zierfandler”.
An alternative program would be the visit of the stalactite cave in Alland and a hike.
